Line 1: Sannu, maigida (Sànnu, mài gidā)
This first line means “hello, sir.”
- Listen several times to the tone and flow.
- Try imitating the tone and rhythm in the “la-da-da” or humming voice.
- Sketch out the tone contour.
- Notice the double “n” in sànnu. You can hear that it is pronounced longer than a single “n.”
- Both vowels in “sànnu” are short! Resist the temptation to drag them out as one would in English to emphasize “Hellooo!”
- Likewise, be careful not to impose the intonation of an English “Hello!” which would likely end in a falling tone.
- Listen and repeat the phrase until you match the speaker closely.
