Travel health experts advise preparing for a trip four to six weeks before you travel, especially if you need vaccinations.
See the recommendations from the US Centers for Disease Control, the UK NHS or those from the health department of your own country. Currently the guidelines include hepatitis A, hepatitis B, meningococcus, typhoid, yellow fever for persons older than 9 months, and possibly rabies depending on likelihood of exposure. Also, “As needed, booster doses for tetanus-diphtheria, measles, and a one-time dose of polio vaccine for adults.”

We do see cases of all of those diseases with the possible exception of yellow fever and diphtheria which are quite rare. Malaria prevention is very important as it is a common and potentially fatal disease.
